“Fritz,” a sniper in the reconnaissance company, is a history enthusiast and collector of artifacts from the world wars. During his service, he prefers wearing the German Bundeswehr uniform, which is where his callsign comes from. He received it in 2013 during his conscription service in the Presidential Regiment, after which he was selected for the sniper company.
Before the full-scale invasion, he worked as a mechanic. In February 2022, he immediately returned to his fellow soldiers and rejoined the ranks. “Fritz” took part in the defense of Kyiv and the intense close-quarters fighting in Bakhmut. He quickly adapted to the realities of modern drone warfare, but remains convinced that sniping will always be relevant because snipers carry out complex missions on the front line in situations where drones are powerless.
